Floriferous Ideas: Midwinter Joys.
A little list - the glimmers of joy throughout the deep midwinter.
Crisp freshly washed sheets, warm and cosy - making the bed and climbing into it!
Nowhere to be, pottering down to the kitchen for cups of tea, then returning to bed to drink them.
Watching the snow fall whilst wearing my favourite pyjamas with a big woolly pulley thrown over.
Cashmere bed socks (life changing!)
Wrapping up warm and going for misty, wintery walks.
Wearing the new pjs I received as a Christmas gift.
The return of the Sunday roast!
Listening to the birds as the sun rises in the morning.
Jumpers, cardigans, cosy socks and thermals become wardrobe staples.
Changing out of work clothes and putting pjs straight on (it can’t be just me!)
Dark evenings, fairy lights twinkling, hunkering down on the sofa to watch a cosy mystery/crime drama.
Watching the cats hibernate, seeking out the warmest spots and curling into warm croissants for long snoozes.
Cooking warming soups and stews.
Devouring entire books in a day.
Sharing book recommendations and searching for exciting new book releases.
Beautiful inky blue and pink sunsets.
Excitedly noticing the first signs of the spring bulbs appearing in the ground.
Hot water bottles, blankets, the cats eager to snuggle up with us.
The crisp, fresh, frosty cold air in the mornings.
Brilliant blue sunny days - winter hats and big sun glasses, gloved hands wrapped around flasks of tea and hot chocolates.
Planning adventures for the year, plotting holidays, walks and mini breaks.
Long, soothing, hot bubble baths.
Wrapping myself in warm towels after a hot bath.
Allllll of the body butters/creams.
Taking the time to do full skincare routines.
Fairy lights twinkling in the darkness.
Narcissus, amaryllis and snowdrops crisp and white blooming in little pots dotted around the house and feeling so grateful that I took the time to plant them up in early winter!
Lighting Christmas candles filling the house with the smells of pine, cinnamon and cloves.
Chai Lattes - warming and wonderful - a little cup of Christmas.
The joy of kicking off wintery boots and swapping them for my cosy wooly slippers.
Bunches of tulips in vases dotted around the house brightening up the darker nights.
Eating the leftover Christmas cheese - having cheese and crackers for dinner after a long, tiring day at work.
Yoga at home - in the evening with candles lit, fairy lights glowing and a cup of herbal tea.
Discovering that blood oranges are back in stock at the supermarket. (They are the most delicious!)
Having a little stash of chocolates left over from Christmas.
Watching the cats making biscuits on soft blankets and slowly settling into their 100th nap of the day.
I would love to hear about your mid-winter joys and the ways you seek out comfort and happiness during the winter months.
